Finally Pathfinder
I finally saw the movie Pathfinder and I must agree with other reviewers when I say that it was not so great.
Karl Urban did look rather hot but he did not have much dialouge and what he did have was rather lame. It is a shame because the story could have been good if it were executed better but even then some things did not make sense…like how a small boy raised by Indians knows how to sword fight like the best of his Viking bloodline. It was also a stretch that he remembered details of his Viking homeland that would be helpful in battle and he remembered their language that he hadn’t spoken in in many years. The most irritaing thing was how he kept walking around in a sarong wading through water in one scene and then walking through snow in another. Talk about unrealistic. At the very least the movie should have explored the romance angle a bit more. It isn’t likely I will be watching this one again. ![]()

In Chronicles of Riddick as Vaako, Karl was absolutely the essence of masculinity. In Ghost Ship his character was fun. In the movie Doom as Reaper, his acting abilities were very apparent. And even though I find him to be quite attractive, I was disappointed with Pathfinder and lost interest half way through it. For it seemed so typical of other films I’ve seen, everything has been done before kind of attitude. There was nothing that had me marvel at the genius or the unexpected, except perhaps the love scene. It was rather laughable, the romancing of a lousy lover.
I hear he is to be cast as Bones in the new upcoming Star Trek flick. It will either make or break his acting career. I’m sure he would enjoy being adored by the American mainstream. Yet should the fans of Star Trek not accept him as Dr McCoy, I don’t think we’ll see much of Karl again.
Yet I plan on seeing him in person before the end of this new year 2008! So Karl, if you happen to read this…I am on the path to find you! And good luck in your future endeavors. With love, Drea-mera!
